Yet another ATO spam email is doing the rounds, claiming that the email recipient has a tax refund owing to them and that it will be deposited to their bank account once certain personal details are disclosed. The email origin is refund@ato.gov.au and the email subject is “Tax Return Notification”. The email contains a link titled “Get Started” and requests recipients to begin the process of claiming their tax refund by accessing this link. Under no circumstances should you click on the link – this email is a hoax and should be deleted immediately.
